OnePlus 8 series is the direct successors to the OnePlus 7T series released this year. Speculated to launch sometime between April and June 2020, OnePlus will probably launch the OnePlus 8 series. Earlier, it was just OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro which goes in-line with previous releases. However, Slashleaks @OnLeaks and 91Mobiles have created a CAD-based render of a budget-friendly OnePlus 8 Lite to release in Q2, 2020 as well.
The phone follows a similar protocol like Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Lite or Galaxy S10e. It means both the devices share similar specs as their flagship models, although with a slight design alternation and a few toned-down details. This allows OnePlus 8 Lite to carry a price tag much lower than OnePlus 8 or OnePlus 8 Pro or somewhere in-between.
Talking about the design & display, the phone looks impressive with a front punch-hole flat display. As per OnePlus’ promise and thanks to the absence of a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, it is likely that this is a fluid AMOLED panel. OnePlus did make it official that all its future devices will have a fluid AMOLED panel. It also means an under-the-display fingerprint scanner is also on the cards.
Apart from that, the phone will have a flat front and a curved rear panel. It will also have a dual-camera setup at the back arranged in a big rectangular camera bump with an LED flash. Just along with the camera bump, there is a sensor that could be used either for Laser AutoFocus or a ToF sensor for depth-sensing portrait effects.
There are no traces of a 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom so that’s a buzzkill for people who love their old headphones or earphones. They can still use wireless headphones or those with a USB Type-C connector. Apart from that, there aren’t any other details that we know so far. Given that the phone belongs to OnePlus’ budget category, it might not get Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 as with other flagship models (OnePlus 8/8 Pro).
We have already seen renders for both OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro although official renders or real-life photos are still awaited.
