1. Restart Kodi Device

- From the main menu > choose Settings
- Then click Device > Restart
And to restart your Fire TV/Stick, unplug the power cord from the device then waiting for 10-20 seconds and plug it back.

2. Use a VPN with Kodi

- Return to Main Menu > choose Add-ons menu
- Next from the top choose the Box icon
- Then tap on Install from Zip File and from the list, choose Dimitrology
- After that choose Video.FreshStart-1.0.5.zip > wait for the add-ons to get installed
- As it is installed > move back to Main Menu> hit on Add-ons > Program Add-ons
- From here check the Fresh Start add-on and click on it
- Then click Yes and now the Kodi will be reset or restored to default.
And it is estimated the Kodi not working issue is also fixed.
5. Uninstall the Kodi Addons
As mentioned above, if your Kodi device, is full of add-ons then this can not only slow down the software but also cause other problems with Kodi.
So here it is suggested to check for unwanted or unused add-ons and remove them from your device.
Follow the steps to uninstall add-ons.
- Open Kodi and click on Add-ons
- Then click My add-ons option
- Next, click All or you can filter to locate the addon that you want to uninstall
- Click on the name of the Kodi addon to uninstall it > click the Uninstall button
- Click Yes on the confirmation window appears
Wait for the uninstallation process to complete and launch Kodi to check if it starts working or not. Or else head to the next solution.
6. Install the Latest Kodi Version
If you are running an older version or the based version of Kodi then this can also cause the Kodi not working problem. So, to fix the problem make sure to install the latest Kodi update.
Follow the steps given to check and install the latest Kodi version.
- Very first open Kodi > then go to the Settings
- Now click on System Information
- Then on the bottom right side > you can check the Kodi version you are running.
- As you noticed the Kodi version, you can try to update Kodi (Note – The latest Kodi version you need to install is 18.5.)
Follow the steps to update Kodi:
- First, open Kodi > click on the Addons menu
- Then at the top menu choose the Box icon> and click on Install from the Repository
- Now from the list appear > locate the Kodi Add-on Repository> and click on it
- And tap on the Program add-ons menu
- From the list choose Kodi Windows Installer> hit Install
- A new window will open > click OK
- Wait for the add-on to get installed.
- Open the Kodi Windows Installer > and hit the Run option
- Click on Releases > and choose the Kodi 18.6 Leia version.
- Now let the download process finish and restart your system.
Open Kodi, it will have the latest version and hopefully, the Kodi not working issue is also resolved.
7. Check your device’s date and time
This is the last solution that you can give a try if none of the above-given solutions works for you. Many users confirmed if the date and time of your devices like computers or TVs are incorrect then this can also cause the Kodi not to work issue and correcting the date and time works for them to fix the problem.
So, simply head to your device settings and locate the date and time settings > check it and make sure to set it to the present.
Now open Kodi and try running it.
