Prepare the document in PDF format
You need to create such a PDF. There are so many tools available in the market to prepare the document in the PDF, however, I am sharing some tested and tried tools that are most commonly used to create PDFs:
- Adobe Acrobat
- Google Docs
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- SwifDoo PDF
SwifDoo PDF, which has the additional advantage that you can also convert an Excel file to a PDF presentation. Another tool that you probably use every day, or at least have at your fingertips for free, is Google Docs.
The principle is similar here: When you have prepared a graphic file, you need to save it with the PDF extension. This way you have a PDF ready with you that can be downloaded to your blog to share.
Saving files to PDF
Saving your work in PDF is very convenient when you send someone an important contract, an important document, or even an image and you want to make it difficult or impossible for the recipient to edit the file. It is also possible to encrypt the item, which provides additional security.
In this case, to open the received message in PDF, you must know the password set by the sender. This format is also helpful when you want to have an actual preview of the thing that will be printed.
PDF is used to publish books in electronic versions, post user manuals, read text files, preview images, and even play videos. Saving in PDF allows you to view all these documents, even in a web browser, without the need to have the application installed on your computer.
What’s more, whether you open the file with a browser or with a downloaded program, it will look the same. Converting items to PDF will also make you able to open them on a device with any operating system. So you don’t have to worry that the recipient to whom you are sending the document has different software than you.
Add an Ebook/PDF file to your WordPress
Now, to upload such a PDF to your website:
- You go to the Add Media tab,
- Click on Download from resources,
- You download a file with the PDF extension specially prepared for this purpose from the files saved on your computer’s disk.
- Now that you have transferred your PDF file for download by your reader to your Media Library on WordPress, you need to find the tab – Copy link and from here copy the link that leads to your ebook, already placed on your WordPress.
Preparing Graphics Download PDF with online tools
Now the next thing is to prepare a graphic that your reader will click on to download the e-book or document in PDF format prepared for him, such as a much smaller, but often very helpful checklist, or another set of tips – such as a document template, a contract template, a few quick tips, a set of words for learning a foreign language (if this is the topic of your website).
To prepare such graphics with the exact place where you need to click to download a given PDF, you can use an online tool such as Canva, a free combiner – a tool for creating graphics.
Additionally, to make it much faster, I chose a ready-made template in which I only replaced the text with my own and slightly refreshed the colors.
Then I save this graphic in JPG format and download the PDF to the website in a similar way as before.
Now I insert it anywhere on the page.
How to attach a link to a graphic/photo on WordPress?
And here is the highlight of the program, i.e. how to attach a link under it, which, after clicking on a given graphic, will directly lead or even take the reader to a PDF ready for download.
And here, to attach a link to any PDF to a photo – u, I hover over it, and click on the pencil, which allows me to edit the given photo.
Here in the link tab, I choose my own URL. Here I paste the previously downloaded link to my PDF. Now I confirm by clicking update and save/refresh the entry.
After going to a given entry in the updated version, after clicking on the image with the inscription “Download PDF”, the reader is taken to the address where it was placed on my WordPress downloadable PDF (which I want to make available to my readers for free in order to build my brand on the Internet ).
At this point, the reader can view the PDF or immediately save it on their computer by clicking the Save icon (at the top of the page).
